Fund News 2010

The Fund now stands at £70,000

The Sam Bencheikh Memorial Fund has gone from strength to strength with numerous notable landmarks taking place along the way. During 2007 the Sam Bencheikh Memorial Fund was adopted by the Tranmere Rovers in the Community Charitable Trust which has its own board of Trustees and is based at Prenton Park - home of Tranmere Rovers FC. Following some incredible fund raising efforts from friends, family and the whole community the fund was able to purchase a purpose built minibus designed to accommodate both children and adults with disabilities. We have now appointed a disability football officer who will be able to continue the excellent work conducted over the years with the help of the fund and the continued use of the minibus will help sustain the project including coaching sessions at schools, league matches for our adult and junior teams, educational projects and general daily community activities.

The present fund raising project is to raise enough funds to fully kit out both the adult and junior disability teams for next seasons fixtures in the Cheshire County FA Ability Counts League. We will hopefullty acheive this goal through funds raised at the wirral Coastal walk and the annual Sam Bencheikh Memorial football match between Wirral Grammer School teachers and Calday Grammer School teachers.

Plans for the future include an educational project named Sams Story. It is a very moving presentation that will be delivered in local high school to sixth formers who are at an age were they will be starting to learn how to drive and our message is very simple - THINK ABOUT THE RISKS OF GETTING INTO A CAR EITHER AS A DRIVER OR PASSENGER. We will be delivering this project with a view to including partners linked to road safety to help the project evolve and more importantly - save lives.

We will also be looking into the possibility of purchasing some junior gym equipment which we hope to use in the soon to be renovated Tranmere Rovers Recreation Centre based at Prenton Park.
The Sam Bencheikh Memorial Fund really does affect peoples lives in a very positive and rewarding way and with your continued support we will continue to sustain Sam mission.

Thank You,
